The majority of the people that set up feeding stations for the birds generally need to handle unwished-for animals. These unwelcome animals can be categorized in 2 groups; those that eat seeds and those that eat the birds. Pussies and hawks are the predators while rodents and house sparrows eat the seeds.

The people that have trees in their area need to deal with squirrels. Most of the time, somebody may find them adorable until they start feeding from the station. There are some people who decide to both animals at the exact same time since they like all of them.

There are toys and feeders that are supposed to attract the squirrels. Majority of the people regret making such a call so somebody has to give the choice plenty of thought.
The squirrels take over the feeder making it tricky for the birds to come to the station. They ensure that they scare away all of the other animals as they eat the seed. Once they finish eating the seeds, they begin to eat the feeder too. The owner can decide to give protection to the feeder from the squirrels by storing thee seeds in metallic rubbish cans.

The other rodents only become a nuisance when the seeds spill under the feeding station. It is not advisable for someone to have a variety of seeds. If squirrels are not present in the area, then a feeder tray will work just fine. The correct birdseed and its collection will look after the difficulty of starlings, crows and house sparrows.

The moggies are a different problem all together. They eat the roosting birds, nestlings and fledglings. When the birds notice that there is a pussy-cat stalking around then somebody will not have the chance to enjoy the experience. Someone may feel chiseled when they do not have anything to watch. The sensation is pretty much as bad when someone finds evidence that a cat ate one of the avian species feeding at the station.

You can make a suggestion to the owner to put a bell collar on it. If they don't want to do so then a dog will be equally effective. The feeding time won't be influenced but the cat and squirrels will keep away. Sometimes, the birds are eaten by hawks that perch in nearby trees waiting for them to turn up. The hawks cannot be poisoned or trapped since they are guarded by the law.
